On Tuesday, Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Gupteshwar Pandey took voluntary retirement from service (VRS). Speculations were rife that he would contest the coming state Assembly polls.
Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer reacted to this development with – “This is not justice for SSR but Justice for Gupteshwar Pandey.”
Satish Maneshinde alleged that by taking VRS, Pandey has proved how both the Bihar government and the central government have been wanting to have political gains by taking up the matter of Sushant Singh Rajput‘s death.
“The Request for VRS by DGP Bihar Gupteshwar Pandey & Granting VRS by Bihar Govt and Union Govt in 24 hrs is as fast as Bihar Govt Transfer of FIR against Rhea to CBI and acceptance of it by Union Govt. This is not justice for SSR but Justice for Gupteshwar Pandey.” – read Maneshinde’s statement as reported by TOI.
Meanwhile, as per Times Now, DGP commented – “SSR probe cannot be connected to my VRS. I only acted according to law.”
He further added – “I have not joined any political party as of now and I have not taken any decision on it yet. As far as social work is concerned, I can do it without entering politics too.”
Earlier, Bihar DGP had termed Rhea’s arrest by the NCB as a big win for Bihar. Before that, when the Supreme Court had ordered CBI to probe SSR’s death case, he had said that Rhea did not have the “aukat” to make comments on Bihar CM Nitish Kumar.
