Naresh Sharma ft.Vishal Mishra’s new track ‘Humko Tum Mil Gaye’ stars Dheeraj Dhopar and Hina Khan is the most emotional yet beautiful light.
The song has already crossed 16 million views on YouTube and has stayed #1 on the YT charts for two whole days!
We spoke to Dheeraj Dhopar and the ‘Kundali Bhagya’ actor opened up about ‘Humko Tum Mil Gaye’, Naagin, his quarantine fitness secrets and home movie dates with his adorable other half, Vinny.
How was your experience reuniting with Hina Khan after Naagin?
It was a great experience. She is a great actor and an amazing co-star, we are buddies. We got a lot of appreciation for our characters and our chemistry in Naagin. We were almost done with our Naagin shoot and we got a call for this music album and we loved the song. So we said let’s do it, it will be a treat for our fans and this is much different from what we have done in Naagin.
And the response is amazing; people love our chemistry here. I personally love the video and the song. The music video came out really beautiful and people love it, they’re showing so much love.
How exciting is it that Humko Tum Mil Gaye has crossed 13 million views? It was trending on #1 for 2 days.
It shows how successful the song and the video is. It was trending for 2 days on YT. I’m really excited and really happy that it crossed all the benchmarks. Trust me, the effort we did when we were shooting, we knew it was going to be great. The storyline was good. Me and Hina, we were performing and somewhere we knew we were going to get this kind of love, we were confident, and we’re getting it!
When the team called me and when I heard it for the first time, I discussed it with Vinny and she also loved it. The minute I heard the song, I said I’m doing it. When they told me that Hina was there, I was totally excited, it was like a double treat for me, doing a beautiful song with Hina.
What was the atmosphere like during the shoot of the song?
When I shot this song, I had already been shooting for Kundali and for Naagin so getting back on set for me was not an issue. Shooting this song was very different for me because I’ve done only one music album before this and that was in Punjabi. This was really different. It is not a dance number, it’s very emotional. You need to be prepared mentally also. The team was lovely, the Universal team is lovely to work with and Hina, of course, is one of my favourite actors to work with. So it was great fun.
Do you see yourself doing more such projects?
Absolutely. I don’t want to be just part of the TV industry. I don’t want to be called a TV actor only, I want to be called an actor. I want to try all the mediums (music albums, web space, movies).
What do you love doing when you aren’t shooting or having a lazy day?
Nowadays the answer is different because of the lockdown. Otherwise, My wife and I are movie buffs. We love watching movies, going out to dinner with friends. But now, being at home I love playing with my dog, watching content on Netflix & Amazon.
But, I was dying to get back to work on the set, get back to shooting, stand in front of the camera. The actor within me was demanding me to ‘Let’s Go, Let’s Work, Let’s Shoot’! Now everything is going good, the show (Naagin) is #1 on the TRP charts again and is the number one show across all channels so I am really happy.
What have you been doing to keep yourself healthy and calm?
My wife is a great cook so I have been eating healthy and have been doing all bodyweight exercises. I have been doing a lot of running. During the lockdown, I lost around 4 to 5 kgs which was a very good thing because I was eating healthy, exercising a lot, resting well and there was no stress.
What is your advice mantra to your fans?
Whatever happens in life, it happens for good so just go with the flow. If I speak about my life, being an actor, rejection is also a part of your thing, of your career and profession. So never take it seriously, everything happens for good. If you’re not getting selected somewhere, it means you’re going to get selected somewhere else. Never take anything seriously in your life. Always take it with a pinch of salt.
How has your experience been working on Naagin?
I play a character called Cheel Aakesh which is a very powerful character. It is a grey character and I was very happy playing it because I have not done anything like this before. I watched a few movies before that. I watched Padmavat to see Ranveer Singh’s body language and also a few Hollywood films as well to get into the character. I am blessed and so happy that touchwood everyone (including the director) praised me for my looks, my performance.
I am very thankful to Ekta for giving me this opportunity. When I heard of this, I wanted to grab that opportunity and it came to me. I always wanted to be a part of something like this and people appreciated my performance.
What is your favourite kind of character to play?
I am a very hungry actor and I’d like to play different kinds of shades. I cannot say which is my favourite genre. I want to do everything. I want to do commercial films, run around trees and dance, I want to do something which Varun Dhawan is doing, I want to do something which Ranbir Kapoor is doing, I want to do movies like the ones Ranveer Singh is doing. So I want to be a part of all kinds of cinemas and genres.
