On Tuesday, in yet another development in the Sushant Singh Rajput case, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar said that the Bihar Government as well will be recommending a CBI probe into Sushant’s death.
As reported by ANI News, the Bihar CM said Sushant’s father K.K Singh had held talks with the Bihar DGP and given his consent for the CBI Inquiry.
“Upon the filing of the FIR, the Bihar Police was investigating the case and we had always maintained that we will recommend CBI inquiry if the consent of KK Singh (the complainant) came. The recommendation will be sent today,” he added.
However, Rhea Chakraborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde was quick to react, saying that Bihar Government cannot transfer case to CBI as it does not have jurisdiction in the matter.
“There cannot be a transfer of the case as there is no legal basis for Bihar to get involved. At most, Bihar Police can register a Zero FIR and transfer it to the Mumbai Police. The transfer of a case on which they had no jurisdiction to the CBI has no legal sanctity.”
Further, speaking to Pinkvilla, Satish said that an illegal method has been adopted – “Having realised that Bihar has no jurisdiction, this illegal method has been adopted. Otherwise, you are interfering in the federal structure of our nation in a back door manner.”
Meanwhile, Bihar Police has recorded Sushant Singh Rajput’s friend and creative content manager Siddharth Pithani’s statement.
