Yesterday, things took a dramatic turn in the Sushant Singh Rajput case as his father, K.K Singh filed an FIR in Patna against Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her family and Sushant’s ex-business manager Shruti Modi, alleging abetment to suicide, cheating and conspiracy.
The FIR had been lodged under IPC sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint), 342 (punishment for wrongful confinement), 380 (theft in dwelling house), 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and 306 (abetment of suicide).
Sushant’s family lawyer Vikas Singh had said that the actor’s family was not satisfied with the way Mumbai Police were investigating his case, and therefore, got an FIR registered at Rajiv Nagar Police station in Patna, Bihar.
As per Zee News reports, apart from the Mumbai Police, the Bihar Police is also looking into the case, with a four-member police team sent to Mumbai for the investigation.
Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty has hired top-notch criminal lawyer Satish Maneshinde – who had once defended Sanjay Dutt in the 1993 blasts case and had represented Salman Khan as well.
As reported by ANI, a day after the news of FIR broke out, Rhea Chakraborty has filed a Petition in Supreme Court seeking transfer of investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death to Mumbai.
In the petition, which was submitted electronically in the apex court, the actress requested transfer of the investigation of the FIR lodged in Patna to Mumbai.
As per Midday reports, Rhea’s lawyer Satish has said that an investigation of the same incident can not be conducted by two teams; citing that the Mumbai Police is already investigating the case, and all the witnesses related to the case are recording their statements in Mumbai. The petition states that Chakraborty is willing to cooperate with Mumbai Police in the investigation.
Satish Maneshinde also stated that when the investigation is already underway in Mumbai with details being made available to people, it is illegal to file a case in Bihar in the same matter.
As reported by NDTV, Rhea has also requested that the investigation by Bihar Police on the FIR be put on hold till her plea is heard by the Supreme Court.
