The actor who’s done movies like Lootera, Dil Dhadakne Do and Half Girlfriend, was made aware of nepotism from his Television days itself. He knew that it would take him 10-11 years to establish himself in the movie industry.

But he strived hard because he believed in his own potential – “I was willing to do it because I know I possess something which is unique and it is being recognised.”

Vikrant Massey says – “Nepotism is there but ultimately, survival is because of talent.”

Talking about how in spite of insiders getting a headstart due to nepotism, survival in the industry depends more on talent – “It is a paradoxical situation today, nepotism is there but ultimately, survival is because of talent.”

Elaborating further, he added that his focus has always been on delivering his best performance since no matter how influential, one can survive in the industry only if one delivers.

How much ever influential a person or whoever’s son or nephew one maybe, you will survive only if you deliver. Because of this entire structure, my focus has always been on delivering my best performance.”

Stating that he does not regret his Outsider status, Vikrant also expressed his happiness at the kind of work and the directors he’s getting.

“I am happy that first-time directors like Konkana Sen Sharma, Arati Kadav or Seema Pahwa, they want to work with me and that is such an incredible feeling. It feels good when someone says I have written this script for you and I want to work with you, so maybe I am doing something right. I do not regret that I am not an insider.

Even though he’s content with the work he’s getting, Vikrant also added that he feels he has not yet started doing the kind of work he wanted to do. He concluded by saying he’ll strive to consistently deliver good performances and build trust in his writer.

Last seen in Chhapaak with Deepika Padukone, the talented actor also has Ginny Weds Sunny and Haseen Dillruba in the pipeline.
